Cartoons and Comic Strips
Cartoons and Comic Strips are a quick method for assessing students understanding. They tap into the students’ senses of humour, artistic skills while addressing the skills and concepts students are learning.

Cartoons and Comic Strips can be used in a variety of ways:

o Provide students with a cartoon or a comic strip with the words blanked out. Ask students to create the words for the cartoon or strip as they pertain to the learning.

o Ask students to create a cartoon or a comic strip about the learning – some students can create one frame while others create 2 or three frames.

o Have students work in partners or pairs to create a comic strip

o Create the word bubbles and ask students to draw the pictures.

o Create a comic strip. Mix up the frames and ask students to put them in order.

o Create a comic strip and ask students to explain it in writing or orally.
